Behind-the-Scenes Tours

What's in the basement, you ask? This tour will show you! See the basements and other places that are seldom seen by the general public.

Memorial Day in the Making: Living History Tours

Saturday & Sunday, May 25 & 26

What are the roots of the Memorial Day holiday and how has it evolved over time?  Talk to living history characters from the 1870s and 1920s to find out.

Beyond the Grave Tours

Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, October 25-27
• 5, 6, & 7 p.m.
• Free; tour sizes are limited and space is available on a first-come, first-served basis

American attitudes toward death changed dramatically from the 1840s through the 1920s. This tour gives an overview of these changes as experienced by the two families and includes a visit to El Campo Santo (the private cemetery established by the Workman family in the 1850s) with a living history character from the past.

Hour-long tours are free, but space on each tour is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Holiday Living History Tours

Saturday & Sunday, December 14 & 15
• Tours depart every 30 minutes from 1 to 5 p.m.
• $5 for adults; $3 for seniors, students, and children (children under 2 are free); reservations recommended

Learn about how the celebration of Christmas changed from the 1840s through the 1920s as you tour the museum's decorated historic houses. Along the way, you'll hear from a costumed living history character who will give you a feel for days gone by. Sweet treats will be served in the Gallery following each tour. 

Space on each tour is limited and we strongly recommend that you make a reservation.  Tickets go on sale October 20.
