About the event
In spring 1875, William H. Workman, Isaias W. Hellman and, John Lazzarovich partnered in establishing Los Angeles’ second suburban neighborhood, Boyle Heights. Placed next to Paredon Blanco (White Bluff) across the Los Angeles River from the small, but growing city, the tract developed from land formerly owned by the López family and Workman’s father-in-law, Andrew Boyle.
Join us as we celebrate the community’s 150th anniversary with the Homestead’s director, Paul R. Spitzzeri, and Boyle Heights historian Rudy Martinez sharing aspects of its history and remarks by Workman’s descendant, Andrew, and members of Boyle Heights Community Partners and the Boyle Heights Historical Society.
