About the event

Join Swiss artist Céline Brunko for an artist talk about her work that explores the material aspects of land and urban space. Since the early 1900s, most of the aggregate for Los Angeles regional infrastructure has been mined in Irwindale. Following the paths from excavation to construction sites, Brunko will give, through her artist works, an insight into  the industrial development of this area and how the landscape and communities surrounding these gravel pits were and continue to be shaped by them.

After Brunko's presentation, Museum Director Paul Spitzzeri will discuss the dynamic evolution of building materials and architecture in the region as seen through the Homestead's collection.
