About the event
Perfect for all skill levels and experiences, attendees will use images and items from the Homestead Museum archive as inspiration for writing about their own family history, legacy, and lore. Learn how to use journaling as a form of self-documentation and preservation of memory and nostalgia throughout generations. Get ready to play, experiment, and learn how to be your family's historian! Materials and light refreshments provided.

Sofía Aguilar (she/they) is a Chicana writer, editor, and library professional based in Los Angeles, California. Her work has appeared in the L.A. Times, Refinery29 Somos, and New Orleans Review, among other publications. As an alum of WriteGirl and a first-generation college graduate, Sofía earned a BA from Sarah Lawrence College, where she received the Andrea Klein Willison Prize for Poetry and the Spencer Barnett Memorial Prize for Excellence in Latin American and Latinx Studies.
